The Art Colony ''Sićevo''
The Art Colony ''Sićevo'' is the oldest Serbian and Yugoslav colony and has the status of a public city event of international stature. It was founded in 1905 at the initiative of the famous painter Nadežda Petrović with the wholehearted support of her colleagues, artists from Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia. After a decades-long interruption in work due to wars and the poor economic situation in the country, the colony was restored in 1964 and has been held continuously every year since then. In 2024, the Gallery of Contemporary Fine Arts Niš marked six decades of the colony's existence and work, which today inherits a valuable fund of 912 works by domestic and foreign artists.
