We would like to inform you that on Saturday, May 18th this year, the European Museum Night will be held.

The European Museum Night is a kind of cultural spectacle, a unique event that involves the extension of the work of museum and gallery spaces until midnight, without charging admission. The goal of the event is to develop the audience, promote interest in museum heritage and contemporary creativity, and improve cooperation with the audience. The event was first held in our country in 2004.

As every year, the Gallery of Contemporary Fine Arts Niš participates in this event, but this year the exhibition spaces will be open until 10 pm.

The audience will be able to see the following exhibitions during the Museum Night:

In the Officers’ House – Retrospective exhibition of Dragan Momčilović, an artist from Niš. The exhibition was organized to mark 50 years of the author’s artistic creativity and consists of a selection of paintings and drawings from the artist’s entire oeuvre.

In the Pavilion in the Fortress – an exhibition by Bojan Otašević, a full professor at the Faculty of Philology and Arts in Kragujevac. The exhibition consists of large-format graphics from the Waiting Room cycle, created over the last ten years and realized in the allography technique.

In Salon 77 – an exhibition Microcosm by Teodora Vojinović, a younger generation artist from Čačak. The exhibition consists of painted sculptures from the Moons cycle and spatial installations Plants and Rain.

At the same time, May 18 was declared International Museum Day by ICOM (International Council of Museums). This event was established with the intention of contributing to the presentation and promotion of museums by emphasizing their role, function and importance.
